Portfolio Project Semester 2

Following my first tutorial with Jon, we discussed potential direction for the project. I told him the ideas I had about using parallax and from this Jon suggested maybe creating the site as some sort of a narrative, rather than just showing my work throughout a page, showing myself as more of a brand. Showing any visitors my story and how I came to be where I am now. My first thought was a darwin style evolution timeline, from child to now. Highlighting key points in my life, potentially showing my work throughout this and how I have evolved as a media practitioner (interests, how my career aspirations have changed). Because of this discussion, I made some changes to my proposal, which is attached below.

My proposed idea for this semester is to create something that myself and the majority of my fellow students will likely look to do once finishing university, creating a portfolio website. This is something that has been done to death. Because of this I will need to make my site interesting for any potential employers. One way I can think of doing this is by creating a short animated video using abstract colours and shapes, possibly set to a song or soundscape and edited to match the beat. I envision this as the full screen opening of the site so they are immediately greeted with this eyecatching colourful piece that will make them think “Okay what else does this guy have to offer”.
